Window Regulator Power Window Repair

Door Glass Windows & Power Window Motor Repair

This page is about Car Window Repair/replacement, not windshields. Generally speaking, mobile car window repair costs are different depending on your vehicle type and age the newer the more expensive the rarer the vehicle the more expensive the older the vehicle the harder the glass is to source, car window repair times can range from an hour to over three hours depending on the complexity of the vehicle some vehicles require reprogramming sequences that we do not provide and will require a scan tool to reprogram the door module.  Certain vehicles have sensitive relearn procedures that restore the window functionality to factory settings. For used glass the price we quote doesn’t include the used parts that you could potentially require.  We can help guide you to where you can source used parts if we cannot source your glass for you.  Only in that instance do we recommend a used glass part.

Maybe you’re looking to do it yourself and just need the glass?  We are not your shop, we do not sell glass to people looking to do it themselves.  Our recommendation is to find out by contacting the dealership.   Some car window repair companies may sell you the glass, but we do not.

Car Window Repair Costs

We recommend calling around to get prices for the vehicle door glass with installation first.  We always recommend calling the dealership parts department and providing them with your VIN Vehicle Identification Number and then finding out the FACTORY DEALER PART #.  This will help out during the replacement process making sure you are getting a price quoted for the exact part needed.  Different part types have different features and the costs for the parts vary.

When we talk about Car Window Repair we are not referring to windshield chip repair, that’s completely different from Car window repair.  Most door glass is tempered glass and it shatters into a thousand pieces when it breaks, this is an easy decision! 100 percent of the time, car window repair is actually a car window replacement.

The repair will only refer to electric power window motors or otherwise called window regulator repair. The door glass itself cannot be repaired from being scratched or removing window tint, all repairs require vacuuming up broken glass. So the choice is easy, let’s replace your car window. Window regulators can be replaced though, so let’s discuss them.  We never repair them, we replace them with new window regulators.

Mobile Window Power Motor Replacement and  Mobile Car Powered Window Repair

Car windows are sorta complicated to repair.  With so many parts like the window regulator, window elevator, window motor and door glass; there are plenty of things that can go wrong.  Do you have a tint on your window creating drag?  This is something we believe is a culprit to the problem.  Defective regulators, poor factory designs and vehicle break ins we believe are all culprits as well.  If you can hear the motor working but maybe you hear a grinding noise or just noise or maybe the window is slow going up or down it’s always due to a faulty window regulator.  We recommend you purchase the regulator from Auto Zone, O’Reilly’s, Pep Boys, Bumper to Bumper, Amazon, Ebay or even the Dealership.  We do not purchase or sell window regulators to our customers; we only install their parts.  The brand we recommend is DORMAN.  If you are buying a window regulator make sure you have the correct part and make sure you buy the full assembly not just the motor.  We do not just replace the motors, we replace the entire assembly.  Window Regulator assemblies range from $50 to $250 and on higher end vehicles like Mercedes, VW, Audi, Maserati they can be even more expensive and that cost is just for the window regulator that does not include our labor.  Our labor will vary depending on the year, make model and glass location on your vehicle. Not every window regulator replacement is the same, certain vehicles like convertibles or European vehicles can be very time consuming.   Some vehicles have rivets and are very difficult to replace.  Some vehicles leave little room to replace the window regulator and our technician’s hands will get cut up just doing the replacement for you.   Autozone usually stocks most regulators at their HUB stores.

Prices on Door Glass

Prices vary from vehicle to vehicle.  Laminated glass costs more and Original Equipment Glass is what we recommend but it will cost more.  Original parts fit perfectly compared to some aftermarket parts.  We understand the broken window on your car or truck is not a planned expense so sometimes keeping the costs low is an absolute necessity.
